Christmas Baking

One of my very own Christmas traditions since the beginning of my teen years is baking Christmas cookies.  It started out when finances were tight in the house hold, and my mom asked me to make Christmas cookies for our family friends instead of store bought gifts.  So the Christmas season would start with buying half a dozen Christmas Cookie tins, carefully picked out from a local fabric store, and baking ALL day on the first day of winter vacation to get the packages ready.  I often had a friend come over to help with the manual labor and clean up.

These days, with the absence of a winter vacation BEFORE Christmas, I don’t bake hundreds of cookies anymore.  But I still bake 3-4 varieties to satisfy our tummies, and Christmas guests, and small gifts.  I guess, come to think of it, I’ve been baking longer than my time with Photography!

I’ve rarely posted pictures of my baked goods, since this isn’t a food blog, but, in the spirit of Christmas festivities, and today being only the 4th day Christmas, we still have a ways to go to keep the Christmas spirit alive!  (Did you know, the 12 days of Christmas starts on Christmas day? It’s Christmas through January 5th!)
