Heather & Seth | Mystic Valley, CT Wedding

A while back, I received a sweet e-mail from Heather.  She mentioned how private her and fiance, Seth were, and how she connected with a blog post where I thanked my private clients.  Regardless of my availability, she shared her enjoyment for my work, and appreciated something we shared in common.

Heather and Seth have known each other a long time, but didn’t fall into the typical mold of wedding guidelines.  As you can tell by their wedding rings, they weren’t going to do anything just to be conventional if it didn’t have a meaning for them, and when I met them in person, I was pleasantly surprised at both Heather and Seth’s calm, sweet agreeable manners.

Even though they live and work in the Boston area, they planned to get married in Mystic, where many summers were spent with loved ones, and a middle ground for their NYC and Boston friends.

Some brides or grooms choose to give a wedding gift  or a love note to each other on the day of the wedding, while they are getting ready.  This time, I had the pleasure of playing courrier and planned it out with Seth when to give it to her, and my camera was ready.

Instead of a first look between bride and groom, Heather agreed to do a first look with her father, and we saw loving tears in her dads eyes.

The church where Heather’s grandmother got married in…

We had the most amazing sunset on a day that had potential rain forecast.  This is not enhanced in photoshop.

I was most impressed at all the decor that Heather and her laides made.  The ceiling decor, and every guest had a hand made flower boutonnière to take home.  They started out as centerpieces, but pretty soon, every guest was wearing them. And my person ‘wow’ moment was when Heather and Seth had the courage to ask their guests to leave their cameras at home.  They promised to share their wedding photography (that’d be me), and invited the guests to just have a great time.  This is a tremendous help to the official photographer.  More on that on a different blog post.

Congratulations Heather and Seth!  It was a beautiful celebration!
