It has been a few months since I blogged, and while I’m busy working, another great reason for not blogging is due to a life update!

My husband Dan and I are expecting a baby girl this coming mid July!  We are well into wrapping up our second trimester, and so incredibly thankful for the smooth ride thus far!

Two summers ago, we went through a difficult loss that was magnified by medical negligence.   I was rolled into surgery in the middle of the night with all sorts of warnings from a specialist surgeon, and when I woke up, I was informed of a 50% chance of the condition causing cancer (!!!).  Over a year passed, and we thought  that life was returning to normal, but while dozens of friends were getting pregnant, we were not on the same boat.  Well, when we were just about to let go of planning such miracles, and lots of careful prayers, we are thrilled to be having a ‘boring’ pregnancy.  Baby Guava (her in-utero nick name) is growing well, has all the parts in place, strong heart beat, moving around, loving strawberries and chocolates, and not causing too much nausea.

So, while Jules Ko Photography continues strongly, and preparations of becoming parents are on my mind, and blogging had taken a back seat.  Maternity leave isn’t quite so defined for baby and family portraits, but weddings have limited availabilities this season (so keep sending those inquiries to get your fall weddings booked!).  The couples who booked me before the pregnancy or after the pregnancy have all been incredibly supportive and excited for us, you’ve all been so amazing, thank you!

So before I got too uncomfortable sitting on a plane, we of course took advantage of the dreary month of February in Boston, and traveled every other week to visit family and friends across the country before we “settled down.”

My brother’s family had a big miles stone

Brother in law had the brilliant idea of having us join them in Maui…

where Dan was reunited with his favorite grandma…

who knew a pineapple blossom is so beautiful?the sea calling out to me…

and these lovely people are two of my favorites in the world…

and whenever we are here, we go on a hunt to look for the best of the below…

On this trip, Chantal Guillon in Hayes Valley stole our tastebuds!  The Persian Rose and Jasmine Green Tea especially… mmmm

In other news, I’ve been attending a lot of education conferences and seminars, and am refining my skills as a photographer and business owner more than ever!

Stay in tuned!
